New York Life Investment Management Confirms its Commitment to Japan, Celebrating Important Business Milestones
Tokyo and New York, December 5, 2017 – New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), the global asset management business of New York Life Insurance Company, celebrated its commitment to providing competitive investment management services in Japan on the occasion of three major milestones: registering as a Discretionary Investment Management Business (DIMB), celebrating the first anniversary of its establishment in Japan, and the inauguration of its new permanent office.
Yie-Hsin Hung, Chief Executive Officer of NYLIM, Naïm Abou-Jaoudé, Chairman of NYLIM International, and Anthony Malloy, Chief Investment Officer of New York Life, were in Tokyo to meet with investors and mark the occasion with Tatsuo Mizutori, Head of Office, Japan branch.
"Our first year of local presence in Japan has given us great insight into the needs of Japanese investors, and confirmed that we're ideally positioned to serve this market," Hung said. "Our combination of scale, multi-boutique model, and mutual company orientation differentiates us from other asset managers entering Japan. With our DIMB registration behind us, we are focused on building and strengthening client relationships in 2018 and beyond."
Naïm Abou-Jaoudé added: "This year has been an important milestone in developing the solutions and services required by our Japanese clients and partners. The investment market in Japan is diversifying and we see significant potential to assist local investors with their investment needs through our global capabilities. We view all our client and distributor relationships as trusted long-term partnerships."
Malloy added: "The benefit of being a 172-year-old mutual insurance company is that we invest primarily for the long-term benefit of our clients. The challenges faced by Japanese institutional investors are our challenges. We have walked in your shoes. We are here for the long run and are looking forward to building many long-term partnerships here in the years to come."
The official office opening reception was attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, the Honorable William F. Hagerty IV.
