New York Life and MainStay Funds Renew Sponsorship of “Consuelo Mack WealthTrack” on PBS
Renewal Marks the Fifth Year of Support for Program Called "Best Money on TV" by Money Magazine
NEW YORK, June 18, 2013 — New York Life and the MainStay Funds announced today the renewal of their sponsorship of Consuelo Mack WealthTrack, the respected public television series devoted to helping Americans build and protect their wealth over the long term. The company's sponsorship enters its fifth season this summer. New York Life promotes its "Keep Good Going" message during each weekly episode and within the streaming video of each episode on the program's website, wealthtrack.com. The sponsorship is shared with the MainStay Funds, the company's award-winning mutual fund family.
Now in its ninth season, Consuelo Mack WealthTrack airs in 211 markets, covering 82 percent of the country. WealthTrack is hosted by Consuelo Mack, former anchor and senior correspondent at CNBC and longtime host of the syndicated series The Wall Street Journal Report.
"Since the financial crisis, we've entered a new era of financial responsibility among consumers. The Consuelo Mack WealthTrack series, which focuses on careful long-term investing, brings some of the best financial minds to living rooms across the country, so consumers and their advisers can make better decisions," said Steve Fisher, president of the MainStay Funds. "As one of the nation's strongest insurance companies, New York Life has been helping families protect their financial futures for over 160 years, so this sponsorship is a great fit with our brand and our mission."
Consuelo Mack added, "We are delighted that New York Life and MainStay Funds are continuing their sponsorship of WealthTrack. We only want the highest quality brands in front of our audience. New York Life and MainStay Funds are widely recognized as among the best in their respective businesses. New York Life has a 168 year history of being there for its policyholders and Barron's has named MainStay the #1 fund family for the 10-year period in its annual ranking of mutual fund families. We look forward to continuing our shared mission of helping individuals and families achieve long-term financial security."
New York Life's "Keep Good Going" campaign sends the timely message that New York Life's employees and agents are focused on doing the right thing and helping customers perpetuate the good in their own lives. How Barron's Ranks the Fund Families
To qualify for the Lipper/Barron's Fund Survey, a fund family must have at least three funds in Lipper's general U.S.-stock category, one in world equity (which combines global and international funds), one mixed-equity fund (which holds stocks and bonds), two taxable-bond funds, and one tax-exempt fund. Fund loads and 12b-1 fees aren't included in the calculation of returns because the aim is to measure the manager's skill. Each fund's return is measured against all funds in its Lipper category, resulting in a percentile ranking which is then weighted by asset size relative to the fund family's other assets in its general classifications. Finally, the score is multiplied by the general classification weightings as determined by the entire Lipper Universe of funds.
Source: Barron's, 2/9/13. MainStay ranked number three for the 10-year period in 2009, 2010, and 2011 from among 48, 46, and 45 fund families, respectively.
