New York Life Premier
Variable Annuity — FP Series

You haven’t seen this before in a VA

A financial product for investors seeking growth and protection in their retirement savings. Premier offers the option to purchase an accumulation benefit rider that provides principal protection with up to 70% equity exposure.1 Premier also offers a level Mortality & Expense Risk (M&E) fee option that is based on premium–that means it doesn't go up, even if the account value grows.2

  • Principal Protection: available through an optional accumulation benefit called the Investment Preservation Rider–FP Series. If, at the end of a holding period, the account value is less than what was invested, New York Life will add the difference, so that the full guaranteed amount invested can be taken, adjusted for proportional withdrawals, and the policy closed out. If the money stays invested, the account value will then be subject to market fluctuations and the IPR guarantee will no longer be available. There are opportunities for growth potential by being able to invest up to 70% of their premium in equities, choosing from over 50 active and passive investment options from well-known money managers. There is uncapped growth potential on investment options.
  • Level M&E Fee Option: There is an option to choose a patented mortality and expense (M&E) fee based on principal — not on the value of the account, which can rise over time. That means it doesn’t charge for growth.2

With or without the IPR accumulation benefit rider, Premier itself offers the level M&E fee option and traditional features available in a variable annuity, including:

  • Income deferral which may help savings grow faster
  • A wide array of investment options built from a broad range of asset classes
  • Some access to the account value
  • Financial legacy protection through a guaranteed death benefit (unless lifetime income is chosen instead)
  • The option to generate a stream of income that’s guaranteed for life

This daily updated chart is your resource for tracking the accumulation unit values of the Investment Divisions of the New York Life Premier Variable Annuity – FP Series. For current to the most recent month-end performance information including average annual total return, please click on the Performance Summary tab.

Performance data quoted represents past performance. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Due to current market volatility, current performance may be lower or higher than the figures shown. The investment return and the accumulation value of your policy will fluctuate so that a policy, when surrendered, may be worth more or less than the premium payments.

All performance reflects the percentage change for the period shown with capital gains and dividends reinvested. The New York Life Premier Variable Annuity – FP Series Premium Based M&E Fee differs from many other variable annuity polices in that the Mortality and Expense Risk and Administrative Costs Charge is calculated as a percentage of the Adjusted Premium Payments under the policy (excluding premiums allocated to the Fixed Account), rather than as a percentage of Separate Account assets. Therefore, the 1.30% charge during the surrender charge period and 1.10% after the surrender charge period is not reflected in the performance of the Investment Divisions, but will be deducted on a quarterly basis by reducing the number of Accumulation Units in the Investment Divisions you have selected. In a rising market, since each Accumulation Unit will have a relatively greater value, fewer Accumulation units will be deducted from your policy for the Mortality and Expense Risk and Administrative Cost Charge. In a declining market, since each Accumulation Unit will have a relatively lower value, more Accumulation Units will be deducted from your policy for the Mortality and Expense and Administrative Cost Charge. The value of your policy will depend on the number of accumulation units you own and the value of those units.

For the New York Life Premier Variable Annuity – FP Series Accumulation Value Based M&E Fee all performance reflects the percentage change for the period shown with the capital gains and dividends reinvested and includes an annualized Separate Account Expense Charge of 1.20% during the surrender charge period and 1.00% after the surrender charge period expires.

A policy service charge of $30, is not included in these charges, but will be deducted each year from the policy's Accumulation Value on the policy anniversary and upon surrender if on that date the Accumulation Value is less than $100,000. The Investment Divisions offered under the New York Life Premier Variable Annuity – FP Series and described herein are different from mutual funds that may have similar names but are available directly to the general public. Investment results may differ. The policies were first offered for sale on November 20, 2017.

1. “Principal Protection” is provided by an optional accumulation benefit rider called the Investment Preservation Rider–FP Series (IPR) which can be purchased for an additional fee. It guarantees all premium payments from a loss that are made in the first policy year (less any proportional withdrawals) after the completion of a holding period. The IPR does not protect the owner’s investment from day–to–day market fluctuations or against losses that could be realized prior to completion of the holding period. The IPR is subject to certain allocation restrictions so not all investment divisions offered under the VA may be available for allocation. With the IPR, the investment option choices include a variety of asset classes and styles. Among the investment options available with the IPR, the maximum target allocation to equity is 70%, so investors may not experience the full risk or return potential of the market.

2. Please note that in a flat or down market, a traditional fee structure, which is based on the account value, may be more advantageous.

Variable annuities are long–term financial products designed for retirement purposes. There are fees, guidelines, risks, restrictions and limitations to consider. Guarantees are based on the claims–paying ability of New York Life Insurance and Annuity Corporation (NYLIAC) and do not apply to assets in the Investment Divisions as they are subject to market risk and fluctuate in value. Withdrawals or surrenders may be subject to ordinary income taxes and, if made prior to age 59½, may be subject to a 10% IRS penalty. Surrender charges may also apply. For costs and complete details, investors should contact a financial professional.
